Welcome Letter From Our President

Welcome Hurricanes Flag Football League of Houston Friends & Family,

The Hurricanes Flag Football League of Houston (HFFLH) is an organization devoted to cultivating better community, social, and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgendered awareness. We are firmly dedicated to improving the quality of life and health for all LGBT and Straight Allies (LGBTA) as well as for all Texans in the greater Houston area. We have been in existence playing flag football since 1998, and incorporated ourselves formally in 2010. We have participated in every National Gay Flag Football League (NGFFL) Gay Bowl since 2007, and even hosted our own NGFFL Gay Bowl in 2011. In 2012, we began our first organized flag football league and have coordinated an annual LGBTA league ever since. We are delighted at the achievements we have had in growing our league in an effort to allow LGBTA men and women the opportunity to play a fun and competitive sport in an accepting and tolerant environment.

As an organization, the HFFLH is firmly entrenched in the ideals of community service and philanthropy. We are proud of all the community service that our organization participates in annually to include assisting in a variety of noble causes and events coordinated by Outsmart Magazine, Legacy Health, and Bunnies on the Bayou to name a few. As a nonprofit organization, we are committed to the betterment of our society and are always looking for new ways that we can give back to the LGBTA and greater Houston-area communities.

For those of you who continue to support our league and social cause, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We would not be successful without your unique contributions and I implore you to continue to find a way to stay involved and help us enlist new members. For those of you who no longer participate in the league, just know that we miss you and that a door is always open for your anticipated return. For those of you who are thinking about joining, feel free to reach out to any of us on the Board and to any members in the league. I can personally say that being a member of this organization since 2007 and fighting along side my best friends, both in football competition and more importantly in society acceptance, has been one of the most meaningful endeavors of my life. This fight and of course our friendly game of football will continue on and grow, and I hope you all can find the time and heart to join us for our fun and worthy cause.
